Special Order

Here's a special order I just sent off in the mail this morning for a friend of my sister's (and now mine!) and her very special family. This will be a gift for her grandmother's 80th birthday! I put family names in the leaves to personalize it. Also, there are 21 leaves to symbolize the number of people in their family. She liked the book I made for my own grandmother's 80th, but wanted a piece of artwork so this is what I came up with! Hope she likes it! (This picture doesn't do the colors justice. I think it looks better "in person!") Click on the pic for a closer view.

On a side note, this is the first time I've had to mail something irregular in size that didn't fit into one of the pre-made priority mail packages. Did you know that if you are using priority mail and it doesn't fit, they will cut two boxes and tape them together to mail your item?! It worked like a charm! Contrary to popular belief, I have found the postal workers in our town to be very helpful! I think it's hard to deal with the general public and have to deal with all kinds of requests - reasonable and unreasonable. So I always try to be as kind as I can, and so far I've gotten the same in return! It probably helps that I've only ever gone on a weekday morning, and have never had to wait in a long line. Maybe it'd be a different atmosphere on the weekends or at the end of the day. So far anyway, I've been very pleased with the priority mail experience. Now if it didn't cost so darn much....
