Retiring Teacher Gift

My two older boys have had the privilege of having the same wonderful kindergarten teacher. This is her last year before she retires after 37 years of teaching! And all at the same school, I believe. Even our school principal had her as his kindergarten teacher! Although we'll be sad to see her go, she definitely deserves to begin this new chapter of life. I had the honor of going in once a week to volunteer in her class, this year with my kindergartner, and when my oldest was there. She is truly one of the most genuine, caring, nurturing teachers I've ever met. Both my boys love her. I made her this piece to say thank you. Even though it turned out a little bit bizarre, I really like the quote!

"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots, the other is wings." -Hodding Carter Jr.

Stillwater

First of all, WELCOME all you new visitors from Minnesota! We had a great time visiting with all of you! If this is your first time visiting our blog, take note that there's lots of important stuff over in the sidebar: where we'll be this summer and fall, how to contact us, links to our two etsy shops and our facebook page. If you're on facebook, we'd love it if you'd come visit us there and "like" us! (http://facebook.com/thingswithwings) Feel free to 'share' us with your fb friends!
Here's a glimpse into our weekend in Stillwater, Minnesota at the Rivertown Art Festival. The weather was gorgeous! Here's an overall view of our tent - with Mama Winger looking very pleased to be all set up and ready to go!
Here's one side:Some closer pics:

What's in that box you ask? Well, there's lots of goodness:
We didn't need much sitting space - so we just set up a few shelves:What's on those shelves? Well, I'm glad you asked!

Oh, only some of the cutest stuff you can imagine! Nesting birds:

and magic wands for little and big girls, and paper-wrapped votive candles:And we haven't even gotten to the other side yet!

Here it is:Some closer pics:

What's in that basket you ask? (Boy, you sure do ask a lot of questions!) Well, ok, I'll tell you. It's only the cutest dolls you've ever seen! Made with love and old sweaters. Aren't her lips and pigtails very nice? Her name is Mutz and her and her friends are perfect for the young and the young at heart!

Good times were had by all!

If I could eat these colors for lunch, I would. I love them that much.

You+Me

= Happily Ever After

Me + Big Frame = Shoes in the Picture
Me+Wind = Artshow Anxiety Attack

(Due to an extremely unfortunate event a few years back in which one of our racks blew over and scraped up the back of a very gracious gentleman.)

Good thing Green Girl has checked the wind forecast for me. I think we can do 6 mph. Although, we'll be right by a river - always breezier next to the water.

In case you haven't heard yet, we're headed to the Rivertown Art Festival this weekend! Seriously, can't wait!

Waiting For the Weekend

This weekend is going to be AWESOME! We seriously can't wait! You'll find us here. Saturday and Sunday! Anybody out there planning on coming?

Here's a few new items I photographed in my new favorite spot - the cement garage floor! I discovered it out of necessity. It's been raining here all week, and it was too gloomy inside to take any pictures. So I raised the garage door and took the pictures as close to the edge of the floor as I could get without getting wet! I liked how they turned out - the colors pop against the neutral gray. Anybody else have an unusual or creative spot for picture taking to get the best light?

Oh Goodness!

So much goodness is happening around here lately. We can't even begin to tell you! This week is going to fly! Before you know it, Friday will be here and we'll be headed to Minnesota. Our job this week is to figure out what we're bringing on this three day adventure. We'll need to save some stuff back for our other shows coming up. Did I tell you all we'll be in Burlington, Iowa too, for the Snake Alley Art Fair June 20? Yep, that's Father's Day. Do we have good hubbies or what?! What this means is we'll be doing 3 shows all about 2-3 weeks apart from each other! eek! It's all good, though!

Happy Mother's Day!

To all you mothers out there - hope your day was full of fun surprises!

Here was mine: the mythical gallon jug of mod-podge! I'd heard tales of its existence, but had never seen a real live one up close until today! How long do you think it will last me? I think my hubby thinks this will prevent me from sending him and the kids on mod-podge runs for me...for awhile anyways!
I was also treated to a heart shaped donut in bed, flowers, lots of hugs and kisses, a picnic lunch and some wonderful home-made gifts. We're getting ready to have Mamma Winger and Mother in Law Winger over for dinner (and the husbands too.) We're having french dips and easy side dishes. After all, I don't want to be stuck in the kitchen all day! The roast in the crock pot has been driving us nuts with its juicy smells all day! Here's what I made for our moms:

And Remember:

"If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you." :-)

I See Myself as God Sees Me:

Things With Wings had such great feedback from an earlier version of one of these that I decided to make a few more for the upcoming shows.

Girls, It's Show Time! (almost...)

Can't believe the time is almost here for all of our spring and summer shows! At application time we thought SURELY we won't get into all of them. (The jury process seems so random sometimes as to whether you get accepted or not.) Well now here we are with several shows in a row, (and more still to be announced!) So we're busy getting ready for all of them now! (You can find out more about where we'll be by clicking on the links over on the left under "Where We'll Be...")
