One World One Heart GIVEAWAY!!!!

***This drawing is now closed as of 10 pm CST February 14. A winner will be announced tomorrow morning.

Last year I came across the One World One Heart giveaway event days after it had ended. THIS YEAR I'm ready for it! One World One Heart started in 2007 and unites hundreds, (maybe thousands this year,) of bloggers from all over the world - each one hosting their own giveaway! It's a chance to meet new bloggers and possibly win something along the way!

All you have to do to win my giveaway is leave a comment on THIS post, along with a way to contact you - your email or your blog. It's open to all of you new folks joining us for the first time, AND all of you loyal followers! You may enter just once and the cut off time for entering is February 14 at 10 pm CST. A winner will be announced on February 15.

So...what will you win? In honor of Valentine's Day, I'm giving away this mixed - media heart flower!

It's made from scrap wood, paint and patterned paper and measures 5 1/2 x 12 inches. It has a saw tooth hanger on the back and will be signed by me! Some of you may recognize this piece as one I recently just added to my etsy shop - and you'd be right! Don't worry though, there's still 5 more similar ones still listed. (see below.)

While you're here, we'd like to introduce ourselves. We are a family of artists who live in Iowa City. We love to laugh, create, and have good times together. Our mixed media artwork is full of hope, humor and whimsy. We recognize that our creative talents are precious gifts from God and we are thankful every day that we get to share them with all of you! We'd be thrilled if you'd stay and look around awhile - and we'd love to keep in touch via our facebook fan page!

If you're interested in hosting your own giveaway or entering some of the other ones, go visit here. Thanks for stopping by!

***Please enter only once - your comment will not be visible until we've viewed them.

And Now....

....back to more gushy art.

A little sidenote: This is a sentiment that my husband could understand. He's not one for gushy words, I'm not really either, in real life. But THIS.....THIS is speaking my husband's language. He has a reputation in his office for bringing a PB&J every day for lunch. Sometimes, he goes out on a limb and does the crunchy peanut butter. Rebel.

Dear Hobby Lobby-

Could you please do a better job of keeping your Mod Podge supply stocked and on the shelf? Is there a Mod Podge shortage? I almost had a Mod Podge meltdown in aisle 10. It wasn't pretty.

Thanks,

Greengirl

Watch. PRAY. Give.

Haiti is never far from our thoughts this week. It feels like we're constantly breathing prayers of "Oh God, help Haiti...God help Haiti." Everything else seems trivial in comparison.

PLEASE take a few minutes to watch this new music video by Aaron Ivey. Our youngest sister Emily has the privilege of doing life and music with him at their church Austin Stone. The Ivey family brought their daughter home from Haiti this past fall, but their son is still there. The orphanage where he lives in Haiti is going through unspeakable trials right now. Their son is safe, but they don't know yet whether the earthquake will further delay their already 2 year long wait to get him, or speed things up. We can't imagine all that they've been through this last week. We've been praying for this amazing family who we've only met once. If you haven't given your prayers and money to Haiti relief, we ask that you REALLY, REALLY think about it. They need our help. We have so much.

If you want to learn even more about the Ivey family, watch their story on CNN here. We also blogged about them and how you can help earlier this week here. Another great organization besides the ones already mentioned is Samaritan's Purse run by Franklin Graham.

Love Is Patient.

Yes, it is. Lucky for me, I have a husband who also believes this to be true. You've got to have lots of patience to be married to this crazy lady. This is one of my love-inspired pieces that will be for sale in Lisbon, Feb. 13th.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1Corinthians 13:4-13

Family Special Order

Here's a recent special order I just finished for a friend. These are so much fun to do - they are personalized and are made to match their home's colors. If anyone's interested, I'd love to do more. They are $45 for a framed piece in the vicinity of 12x16. (Each frame is one of a kind so measurements may vary.)

Haiti

Emily, our youngest Thing with Winger, has some good friends - Jamie and Aaron Ivey who she has the pleasure of leading worship with at her church Austin Stone. The Ivey Family recently brought their two year old daughter Story home from Haiti, (to join her two brothers already at home) but they are still waiting for their son and brother Amos to join them all. Fortunately, he is OK, but I can't imagine being away from your child when he's experienced such scary circumstances. The Ivey's had the awesome opportunity to share their story with their local news:

Jamie has put together on her blog some great ways you can help with the relief efforts underway. So PLEASE go check it out. Also, they are selling t-shirts that 100% - YES, 100% - of the profits will go to Haiti.
Go here to buy a shirt.
Most of all, the people of Haiti need your prayers. God is good - even in the midst of tragedy and He is going to work mightily in the days, weeks and months to come.

EtSy LoVe

Finally getting around to restocking my poor abandoned etsy shop! All of these pieces have one very important all encompassing theme to them: LOVE. After all, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I admit I don't actually decorate for the holiday. That's why these pieces are so great - they're not valentine-y. They'd be perfect in your home year round. Love is all you need, baby. 365.

(click on any of the pictures above and it will link to that item in the Paper Prayers etsy shop for more info and pictures.)

THE WINNER!

And the winner of the funky scarf is: (dadadadadadum) Big Mama Tammy! Please email me at creativewks35@aol.com with your address and I will get it in the mail to you. Congratulations!

QUESTION....

I need your help. I want to start posting bigger pictures on our blog here. Does anyone know the process you need to go through to post pictures larger in dimension than the preset blogger options? I have a stinkin feeling it involves editing the html so i need someone to talk me through this slowly like you're talking to a child. :-) If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it! thanks all!
