We are excited to announce we have a new licensing partner!

Magnet Works is best known for their magnetic mailbox covers and outdoor garden flags but they have recently expanded their business into some amazing new directions with the introduction this year of Studio M - their new artful outdoor living concept and DrinkBlots -  their artful paper coasters.

"Oh. My. Gosh. Whining is one of my biggest mothering pet peeves. I would love to hear how all you moms out there conquer (or are trying to conquer) this bad habit. My husband and I just decided one day that if there was any whining coming out of our children's mouth, we just completely ignored them. As in, not even acknowledging their existence. We even would go so far as to have conversations such as, "Honey, did you hear something?" "No dear. Not a thing".  They quickly learned that there were ways to say what they wanted to say in a way that would have our full attention. I even entertain and listen to complaints if they are done in a polite and respectful manner. It was quite fun, especially when they were younger, to watch them work this out. Often times it would take them 2 or 3 attempts before they got it right. This is such an important thing to teach your children because we all know what's worse than a little whiner.....an adult whiner...and they're not as easy to ignore!!"  - Laura

Trying new things is always a bit of a challenge for 2 out of 3 of my boys (if we're talking about food.) My most adventurous eater is strangely enough the one most likely to be nervous or hesitant when it comes to new experiences.  Sometimes you never can tell who's going to do what or what new thing will be an issue, kids are notoriously surprising like that!  Recently it was our 5 year old who struggled with a new thing:  he started soccer (which he LOVED and seriously rocked at last year) and was super pumped all the first day right up until he got into the van and then it was tears all the way there and "I don't want to play soccerrrrr!!!"  But we carried onward, quickly realizing we were not even going to keep talking about it. We weren't going to get an answer as to why (we never did figure it out and sometimes there is no reason why!)  Once he got there he dried his tears, jumped right in and was back to loving it again, just as we knew (ok, hoped) he would!  He even got picked up and spun around by a little teammate when he scored a goal!
