Come see us this weekend at the Coral Ridge Mall! We will be on the ice rink. No skates required :) Friday evening and Saturday day. Here is a sneak peek at some things that will be there. Also, if you've seen something you've liked on this blog in the last month or so, it will probably be there for sale. Come check us out! We'd love to see you!

the "WOOF"
We took a few days off to go to the Great Wolf Lodge (indoor waterpark/condo) with the family. Here I am sitting by the front entrance wondering what a bear is doing there welcoming me to a wolf lodge. My kids made fun of me for the way I pronounce wolf - sounds like "woof" - silent L. But that was just the start of the various ways I was able to amuse them on the trip. I think I'm getting too old for some of my shinannigans anyway by the way my body feels today. It was fun and restful and although it did not seem to inspire me with creative ideas, I found that once back home, some great things popped into my head out of nowhere. And it is 2 days before we have a show. I'm calling it Compulsive Creative Crunch - because it happens everytime we are coming up on an art show. These ideas come flying around and have nowhere to land - no time to be brought forth into the world, except for maybe a rough pencil sketch and tossed onto a pile of other lost and left out ones, because it's crunch time!!! dang!

Bad Dream.
I had the worst dream last night. I was at an art show. I was walking down the aisle and up ahead I see a booth that is just mobbed with people. I think to myself, 'Ooh, there must be something good up here!'. I push through the crowd and my mom and sister have set up a booth...without me. I yell, "What are you doing? Why didn't you tell me about this?" My mom rolls her eyes and says to Jill, "Oh, great. She found out." I woke up all disgruntled. I STILL am! Watch out, you two!

It has arrived!
Look at the cute package that arrived today! Oh my gosh - the anticipation! Oh, maybe first I should say that I won Suz's give-away drawing last week from her blog aah! surprise, delight, joy. Her artwork is so fun, and just look how special she made the package look!
Peeking inside: oooh, there's the "love" pin and I love it. And an extra surprise little thingy! yes!!!
Then guess what, my battery went dead. I'm charging it up and I will post a better photo of the pin soon. It's very cute, Suz. Thank you so much.

One of These Things is Not Like The Others....
Remember that game and the little song from Sesame Street?!
One of these things is not like the other,
One of these things is not quite the same.
One of these things is doin' his own thing,
Now it's time to play our game,
It's time to play our ga-ame.
Or something like that.
These shadow boxes look better in person. The inside pieces are raised up for some dimension. Each one has a different home quote:
Home is home, be it ever so humble.
Home is the nicest word there is. Laura Ingalls Wilder
There's nothing half so pleasant as coming Home again. Margaret Elizabeth Sangster
I long, as does every human being, to be at Home wherever I find myself. Maya Angelou

Flowers and Crazy Hair
This "bouquet of flowers" says, "Believe God's promises," Praise Him from whom all blessings flow" and "God has a plan."
You cannot control everything. God put hair on your head to remind you of this:
You cannot control everything. God put hair on your head to remind you of this:
Same quotes: You cannot control everything. God put hair on your head to remind you of this.
Don't you hate it when you're having a bad hair day? It always seems to happen when something important is going on that day. Maybe it could be because I've tried to hard?! I mean really, who am I trying to impress?! The lesson here is one that I (as a recovering and sometimes still struggling, control freak) need to constantly remind myself of: God is control, and I am not! (And I should be thankful everyday that I don't have that kind of responsibility!) Actually, if I had hair like either of these precious gals, I'd take it, butterflies and all.

Before and After
BEFORE: This is a little doll sized table and chairs I picked up somewhere along the way. It was an ugly gray and kind of beat up looking. . . not much fun.
AFTER: This is the same table and chairs with color and fun!
It's just a matter of time. . . and then what?! hmmmmm. . . . I don't know. . . but I wish I'd taken a "before" shot of this guy, too, cause he was about the same yucky color of blue that the table and chairs were.

Peg Dolls
This morning I started with this...
And ended up with this! You get this many women together and you get TROUBLE!
And ended up with this! You get this many women together and you get TROUBLE!
This girl is my favorite. She's very chic and very girly. I think she needs a french name. Any ideas?
This one is Carla. She's pretty rough. Trust me, you wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. She likes to wear heels with her animal print leggings. She watches soaps all day except when she's snooping at the neighbors...
There she goes again...she's got a comment about everything, and everyone. Luckily, Mrs. Cleaver just closes her eyes and humors her. What else can you do? Who is she whispering about now?

"Doesn't she know headbands went out in the 80's?!?" Carla whispered.
Poor Laura. I mean Laur-el. Yeah...Laurel .That's it. She just does the best she can. You can tell it in her eyes. She's a little frazzled. She's barely keeping it together some days. She's got 3 kids at home. And a very annoying dog. She considers it an accomplishment to match her headband to her belt. Who cares if she bought them in 1986?
This one, of course, is named Emily. She might need to go in the mail to Texas. She has curly hair and likes the color purple. I've had WAY too much fun with these today. I might need to go make some more. Not because anybody is going to buy them, but because my 2 year old and I have been playing with them all day. I'm kind of attached.

Some Stuff
Develop the art of living. The art of living is the highest of all callings: Welcome Happy Morning! and Joy is the serious business of heaven:
Wholeness is a gift of grace:
I used my new woodburner (finally) to make circles on this frame! The Voice of Truth is singing over me:
I like how you can see the text through the girls' faces. So I'm planning on making more like this.

Art to Think About

Rock On.
You Either Love Em' Or Hate Em'.
People love their cats, I mean REALLY love them. Or, they hate them. I do not want to be accused of making artwork to purposely play upon the emotions of cat owners everywhere and swindling them out of their hard earned money, so I will decline commenting on my true feelings and remain neutral towards the feline persuasion. I WILL say...if they were all loaded onto a ship and sunk off the coast of Costa Rica I would probably, most likely, (yes.) look the other way.
