Wise Guy
Somebody in our family turned the big Three last week! We celebrated with a family party and as is tradition, Mama Winger painted a shirt for the birthday boy. She's done this every year for all her grandkids, up until the age that they don't appreciate it so much anymore. :-)
I can't even handle that smile. That's his fake "cheese" -I'm-getting-my-picture-taken smile. And those dimples? Don't even get me started. They go a long way toward charming everyone he meets. Thanks for another great t-shirt Grandma Winger!

Love Lives Here
I'm kind of obsessed with making these little scroll frames around quotes.
Another new 'look' I'm trying is leaving the background the natural wood rather than painting or papering it. Kinda fun. But now I'm getting that restless feeling of wanting to move on to something else new and different. Everything is starting to feel 'the same.' So I'm going to try to break out of my comfort zone a bit, with some different ideas. Not sure what that's exactly going to be yet, but if anybody's got any suggestions of something new they'd like to see us put the "Things With Wings" spin on, throw 'em my way!

Family Matters.
I just finished up this bird family as a special order . I thought I would share a picture with you before they spread their wings and fly off to the great state of Minnesota. As I was lining up these guys, getting ready to take their family portrait, I was struck by some amazing revelations. So, you've got Mom and Dad and their comfortable home in the background, but check out the line of kids. To the left you've got the oldest. Doesn't she look a little bit like the family "rule follower". Doesn't she kind of look like she likes to keep everyone in line? and then look at the baby of the family. How can anyone resist her? I don't think she could possibly do anything wrong and I think she knows it!!! She wears her heart on her sleeve.
And then you have the middle child. She just looks disgruntled. Hmmm.....
I'm sure it was all a coincidence and not really in my subconcious. Yeah.
Sincerely,
the middle child

A Facebook Winner, Crooked Houses, and a Very Large Sign
It's been slow goin' artwise this summer, but I've gotta step it up a notch in order to be ready for our September shows! Here's a peek at a few pieces I've accomplished. These crooked houses were fun to make and the message about sums it all up:
In other news, the facebook giveaway is over! Last night Sandy Echternacht won! I'm not sure if facebook is the best way to have a giveaway in the future. It was confusing where to enter, and the post kept disappearing and reappearing. Not too reliable. I was worried we were going to lose ALL of our entries! Oh well, ya live and learn right?
So now what?!
Back to school time is almost upon us! Green Girl's youngest will start kindergarten and my youngest is starting preschool 4 mornings a week. It's going to be sad....for about 15 minutes - until we get a taste of freedom. :-) This is new territory folks - all of our 6 kids in school! I'm still kind of in denial.
Like I mentioned earlier, we're preparing for two great shows in September. One in Cedar Falls and one in Davenport. Artapalooza in C.F. is a new one for us, and we're ex-cite-ed! And Riverssance in Davenport is always one of our best and most fun shows every year, so we're looking forward to going back! See the "Where" section for more details and links. I'm sure we'll be fillin' ya in with more specifics as the time gets nearer.
We're busy this week working on a very special and very big (2ft x 8 ft) sign for my kids' school library. Here's a sneak peek of the work in progress:
I stayed up til 1am last night painting black and white checked trim for the border. Now it's on to putting it all together, outlining, sealing and staining etc. etc. Shooting to get it done before school actually starts - August 19 here. We'll be sure to show you more pics when it's finished!
How about you? What are you looking forward to at the start of this school year? Or are you dreading it?! Fill us in.
Over and Out for now!

My Beloved
The littlest Thinger with Winger here. (not sure I like the way that sounds)
I pretty much contribute to this blog...NEVER.
My mom and my sisters are the artists, they make pretty things...and I...make music!
Can I just say that I am so proud of them?!?!
I thought I would contribute a little musical break from all the art. Is that ok!? Am I allowed to do that on here!? :) (they did give me access to this thing!)
I recently blogged about my funky town I've been in...you can read about it here.
I shared a song that I recorded (roughly) and thought I would post it here too.
I DID NOT write it...it is a song by Kari Jobe called "My Beloved"
Hope you enjoy it and hope that it blesses you!
Here are the lyrics...and let God sing this over you tonight!
You're My beloved your My bride
To sing over you is My delight
Come away with Me My love
Under My mercy come and wait
Till we are standing face to face
I see no stain on you My child
You're beautiful to Me
So beautiful to Me
I sing over you My song of peace
Cast all your cares down at My feet
Come and find your rest in Me
I breathe My life inside of you
I'll bear you up on eagle's wings
And hide you in the shadow of My strength
I'll take you to My quiet waters
I'll restore your soul
Come rest in me and be made whole
You're My beloved your My bride
To sing over you is My delight
Come away with Me My love
